blackshoequeen wrote: »Hi everyone, still a newbie so greatful for any advice over me trip to Boots today!
Found some great reduced No 7 day and night cream on the clearance stand today, then I used the ACM machine and was delighted to find the highlights voucher, got one once before and my daughter loves it. Great, I thought, I'd buy the night and day cream reduced to £3.50 from £17.50 and get the hightlights powder free! Bargain!
BUT... i pressed to print the voucher, the machine whurred and made a printing sound but no voucher came out and the print button disappeared.
Horror!!
I asked a SA for help she didn't know how the machine worked and so got another SA. She said it was just bad luck if the voucher had disappeared. She opened up the machine to check the paper feed which was fine. Then she put my card back in and tried to print another voucher from my card (the half price line lift!) and the same thing happened again, vanishing voucher! She said it was tough because you only get one chance at the voucher and if it didn't come out there was nothing you could do. This didn't seem very fair to me. After I complained to her she went away with my card to ask someone else. She came bakc saying the same thing, and then changed her story to say that the voucher had probably expired and thats why they hadn't printed!!
I could not get her to understand that it was a fault with the ACM and that I was entitled to the voucher it just hadn't printed out. She just kept saying there was nothing she could do.
So my question is... is it worth compalining to customer services about this as I bought the No7 product anyway I feel robbed of the £10 highlight powder. What do you expert Bootsers think?
Just to update you... Boots gave me 1000 extra points free to make up foe the missing voucher! I'm chuffed with that, thanks for your advice MSE Bootsers!:j0 -
One other thing...Boots in Gateshead Metro Centre have some nice No7 bags for £1 on the clearance stand. I think they have been previous GWP, but they're nice anyway. They also have some eyeshadow duos for £2.44 and foundation for £2 all No 7 so good value. There were lots of disposable cameras reduced too, don't think anyone uses them these days do they!0

Hiya, Bangbang
Welcome to the Boots thread! Hope you find lots of nice glitches here to make up for not having your discount card. Its all a bit quiet on here at the moment, cos not many bargains to be found, but stick around!“All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt.” Charles M Schulz0 -
The £8.95 Grazia coupon for Sanctuary Salt Scrub goes through as a Boots Coupon and the product goes though the till at £8.76 so a tiny profit / money off your shopping if you're buying other stuff0

Just thought I'd let other Bootsers know that I signed up to the Prescription Service last month and presented my 500 points voucher. For some reason, only 250 points were added when I presented my voucher, and the SA, who was the Pharmacist, had to add the other points, with a Special Code, manually. I seem to remember other people reporting this as well.
I then had a Consultation, which is part of the whole deal, apparently. This was quite straight forward, talking about your lifestyle and prescription items and what they're for, and only took about 10 minutes. So yesterday I went along to my local branch and my prescription items were waiting for me, and given to me by the Pharmacist.
I asked her if there had been a big take up on this, and she said that a lot of people, especially the over 60s, had taken advantage of the offer. It saves all the bother of traipsing along to the surgery, putting in your request for a prescription, waiting 48 hours, collecting it, and then taking it to a chemist.
She then added that it had also exposed people who were using the coupons and not signing up.
I seem to remember that when the magazine first came out last month that OP said you could use the coupon without actually signing up. So I asked the Pharmacist if there had been many cases like this and she said "Enough".
I did an Oscar winning performance of expressing shock and surprise, and then asked if there were other methods of exposure in operation. She said "Well some people aren't as clever as they think". I said that I'd got 18 pairs of Gorgeous Feet Insoles in my cupboard, cos they only work out (in Boots logic) at 34p each, and I was concerned I was now as Doomed As An MP.
It's so nice in this hot weather to stick a fresh pair of insoles into your sandals every few days! She asked me to explain how I was getting these at such a low price, and when I explained, she then said that was perfectly OK. In fact, she'd get some herself!!
Alas, at that point, other people had the cheek to come in then, presenting and collecting prescriptions, so I couldn't have any more cosy chats.
Just thought fellow Bootsers should know.

They really are very good, and not only do they make your specs fast but you'll get 1 point per pound spent so it's not all bad. But god how brilliant would it be if it had been the usual 4 to the £1 (I'd have gotten 232 points then - ah well, 58 is better than nothing)! The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. To confirm it is a £5 fragrance voucher that I received today.
Also received my free Sanctuary salt scrub, it's lovely!
The ACM would not let me check the offers so can't report back.
HTHLife is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.
Go as far as you can see, and when you get there you'll see further.
Take time but don't waste time0
