I am expecting delivery of my new Dell Studio laptop anyday now and am hoping somebody could advise me on a run down of the best way to set it up in terms of security.
I declined their offer of having McAfee as I get the impression they aren't the best and I believe I should be able to get better much cheaper or free?!
I am a Barclays account holder and know they offer Kapersky free to customers. Is this a good idea and what else do I need?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Kapersky is good. All my security is free and good. I use Avast, Zonealarm, SuperAntiSpyware, SpywareBlaster, Adaware and Advanced SystemCare. On the rare occasions I catch something one of them picks it up straight away.0

I use Avast
This is okay, it'd be my number 2 antivirus.Zonealarm
Nothing wrong with Vista / XP firewall so I certainly wouldn't go with this. If you're bothered about outbound traffic not being filtered then have a read of this to see if you think it's needed.SuperAntiSpyware
Agreed, great piece of softwareSpywareBlaster
Overkill given you've got SuperAntiSpywareAdaware
Used to be good 5 years ago maybeAdvanced SystemCare
I'd rather go with CCleaner
My list is as follows:
Anti-virus - Avira AntiVir
Anti-malware - Malwarebytes
Anti-spyware - SUPERAntiSpyware
Firewall - Windows XP SP30
