Faulty Tv advice please?

We got a 42" lcdtv from BAYV in december using there coin meter system (silly i know). In febuary this year we paid for the tv in full costing us nearly £1500.Yesterday we noticed a line running down the middle of the tv and also the colour has gone all blurry when watching certain programmes especially football and rugby the players keep vanishing in to a green blob. I phonned bayv up to tell them about it they said they would send a technition out to look at it and he may need to take it away to repair it. Im not very happy about spending £1500 on a tv for it to be repaired after only 5 and half months. Do i have to let them repair it or can i ask for a new tv?
