hi
i bought a garage at the start of febuary, received all the paper work stamped paid, however this week the company rang to say they forgot to take the deposit (£472)
the question being do they have the right to take the money now?
i dont mind paying it at all, fairs fair etc, just wondering what my legal rights are when trying to get a bit of a reduction for hassle, inconvinence, whos in the strongest position for bargaining!

my morals are fairs fairs i'll happily pay it, mistakes happen, however i feel i should have some discount as its not my fault they did not take payment when the cash was there ready to pay it"we don't stop playing because we get old; we get old because we stop playing."0

Where exactly have you had the hassle and the inconvenience apart from answering the phone.
Did you not realise that they had not taken the deposit,
i would know if there was an extra £472 in my bank since February.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Yes they have the right to take the money now.
You always have the legal right to haggle - you don't have a legal right to succeed in that haggling.
The cash should still be there to pay it - you have known that it hasn't been taken. Can't see where hassle and inconvenience come into it in the slightest. And it's not entirely 'not your fault' - have you reminded them? Fair's fair.......0 -
I thought you've already been rewarded by getting interest on the money sitting in your account!0

The OP should substitute 'r' for 'n'0
