I do agree about companies like GR and GfK, I don't really see why people post alerts about them since the jobs are offered individually and emailed to us by the companies.

Having said that I don't see it as a big problem, I would personally only post alerts for individual jobs if they have been there for a while, or they look like a release which somebody might like, or if there are two or three in the same area which might be worth somebody travelling to.

I put GRs info up if i see something in my area as i will have seen it and applied for other (hence i know one is available for someone else) PRIOR to an email being sent out. so i thought it would help someone else needing the work.

Does anyone else feel that the alerts thread is a little too busy with "a retail shop in the outer hebridies" type alerts?

I thought the original aim for the thread was a bit more like "retail shops just released on RE" - where more than one person had a chance of getting it.

As someone who doesn't do shops unless I'm called by the company or I see one on the offchance on a site, it doesn't bother me too much but I remember the days when I'd get the email on my phone, race back home/to a computer only to find it was nothing worth worrying about. That was annoying when that happened but it must be worse nowadays!!

I'm trying not to upset the people who do post there as I'm grateful as a lot of people are - just thought I'd mention it.

    Any thoughts anyone?

so what are the rules on posting alerts please as i have only been in here for just over a month and i am posting alerts when i see work other people might be able to do and maybe i am doing something wrong?

As for comments about income i was made redundant and we now live on partners wage (half of what i used to earn) so i am doing this to pay for basic things we need and to save enough money to buy stock to set up my own business so ANY alert i see is very valuable to me.

Also for example I posted earlier today that ABA-i had more phone jobs - i did not actually receive an email from them about this until a few moments ago so by posting the alert im hoping other people got to accept work prior to the emails. i have noticed some of the emails i get about 7 hours after being sent so i guess they get delayed for other people as well sometimes and not just me.

Argh... messed up the RE retail jobs that just came on! Didn't notice there were two different date sets, took on one closer to me but didn't realise it was different dates to the first few I looked at, then released it quickly, thinking I could get one that wasn't so close but on dates I could do... but it doesn't let me see any now! Argh! :P

Don't worry about that! There aren't any rules - I was just spouting my usual type of thing ;)

I just think that to say "stamp shop on GAP in Southampton" (for example) is a bit useless because a) 95% of shoppers on here can't get to Southampton even if they wanted to and b) if people need prompting to check a site for a job which has been on there for more than a few days then they clearly don't need the job or the alert in the first place!

As you were everybody, I've had my say and now I feel better :D

Its still showing for me so i am now really tempted to take it but on that date ive got 5 in 1 town, 1 somewhere else and this would be somewhere else again. partner will be driving me so this one last job might tip him over the edge  :rotfl::rotfl:
we are desperately trying to get me a cheap car but we cant find what i am looking for :( so far i had left searching to partner but as hes now away for rest of week i will be looking myself ..... im sure ill locate something as im not so fussy ;)
