Just one more question for tonight :) If I'm registered as self employed for my other job, do I need to register again for MS, or just add it to my next return?

If you have already registered as self employed, you wouldnt have to do it again.

Anything you earn above the £6,475 threshold would need to be declared, regardless of your employment type

I'm in the middle of one of the BARE car price jobs, and it's not as easy as it might seem! Phoning up various garages and asking for the price of a part, which for some of the garages is so obviously something they do not, nor will not, stock! Makes you feel a bit stupid, but money is money.

(Example: Phoning an goods MOT test station and asking whether they can supply a large part for a car!)

On the contrary to DH, I would say that if it's a separate trade (i.e. what you do is different), you should register again under another SE registration.

Thinking tax wise, anything you earn over the NI threshold in one SE, you will need to pay NI on. If you have a second registration, you will not need to pay any further NI as you get the allowance again and for any further registrations.

I logged into one of my MS companies yesterday to find a couple of jobs for a sandwich outlet, only to find the fee has gone from £4 to ZERO, what a cheek do they think we do this for love???

Can you give a bit more clarification please, Timmne? It seems rather complicated to me to be registered twice and have to do 2 tax returns??? I mean, I could see the reasoning behind it if say one SE was MSing and the other was running your own shop, but otherwise, couldn't they be lumped together?

When I registered as SE I listed 3 'occupations' with '/' in between the 'job titles'. This seems to work ok for me because they are all just me doing freelance work of one description or another, working from home, not employing anyone and not paying out for premises. What do you think?

Do you remember about a month ago I said it looked as if RE had overpaid me? Well, they definitely have overpaid me by £29.50. I did email them about it and they never replied or did anything about it. I am now completely paid up to date by them and my account is now at zero.

How crap is this new system of theirs that it can overpay and then manage to "lose" the overpayment? I wonder how many other people have had a nice little RE bonus this month?

I actually found it easy (and quick cos most of them didnt sell parts) , but yes I did feel stupid ! All of mine are graded now too which is a relief as I did wonder if they would still be assessed.

Indeed, I've completed them today, and they were the easiest ones I've had to do - just waiting for them to be graded now (hopefully 10/10!)

London lunches on RE - short notice and no fee at the slimy place

I laughed at "the slimy place" 4.gif4.gif

Could have done one of the jobs this week but no kids allowed and it's half term so no chance
