Under 25 car hire

We are traveling to Pau airport (France) and need a car for 9 days for 5 people plus kit.

Aim is to have two of us allowed to drive one 25 yr old and one 23 yr old. Most hire companies want over 300 euros for the addtional 23yr old driver. Does anyone know of any deals at the moment. Traveling in June.

Thanks

You'll struggle. Car hire firms simply do not like hiring to under 25's .

    They are (they're)

    Their
books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.

Have to agree, plus it sounds like you are going to need a large car or small MPV so even less likely. You may also find the excess increases because of the younger driver. Suggest you'll have to stick to one driver if thats possible.

If you look at the Pau Airport website, you will see there are only the major players operating there, of those I think Sixt might be the only one who won't charge a fortune, and as others have commented, you are looking for a large car and there is usually an increased supplement for the largest cars

Thank you for your suggestions, unfortunately Sixt does not have a pick up point at Pau, the nearest being an 1hr 15mins away.

Have to agree with the above, can be a real pain in the backside! (though not anymore for me :))
Even with the travel time Sixt might still be the best bet; It's a matter of comparing costs, and what the other companys working out of Pau can offer, but it might work out cheaper overall to take the time hit & travel costs for getting to the Sixt place, than to go with any of the more convenient alternatives.

Best of luck finding something workable! )
