Can you cancel a BT contract early if they mess you around enough?
I've had enough of them. I've been overcharged, disconnected, connected to someone else's line, had them stall me on refunds etc. etc.
The phone line now works but they haven't even got it together to send me a bill, my direct debit agreement or anything in writing to the address where I live (and have the line). I've asked them for it enough times.
I don't even know my account number, they won't tell me for data protection reasons.
I don't want to do business with them. I know how this is going to go though - they've (They've - ha!) already cancelled my direct debit when they overcharged me and it bounced (then they did it again). I can't pay my bill (I don't have one to pay), they're going to hand it to a debt collection agency, claim they haven't been able to contact me. They'll claim they can't undo it, or promise to and not bother to, and my credit rating will be shot.
I just can't be bothered any more. I want out. How do I get rid of them?
Thanks for any help.

No. Incompetence is not a condition that will allow you to terminate your minimum arrangement. (You'll see it's not there under 'Your Rights to cancel"). The only way is if they fail to provide the service, per the contract and even then most things - like service availability - is well covered.
Afraid, you'll have to stick it out.0
