Nationwide Limit Increase

Hi, I hope some fellow MSE's can help me on this one. I am looking to increase the credit limit on my Nationwide Card and before I do this they say they may have to check information with other parties.

Does anyone know if this will perform a credit search? I sort of lost the plot and got into the downward spiral of credit applications about 8-9 months ago and currently have several others on my file. Only two of them are since December, one for my loan and one for my new T-Mobile contract, both of which are successful.

I have a £500 limit which was decreased, by Nationwide, from £3,500 when I took out my Natwest loan in January.

They may indeed perform a credit search

Sounds very much like a credit search...But then i am surprised they downed ur limit from a huge £3500 to £500. That is a big chopping off.
Was your Natwest loan significantly a large one
  • when bqarclaycard increased my limit, they done a soft search, just call them up and ask if its a full search/check as if you are applying for a new credit facility

Oh yes...it was to consolidate an existing loan and 5 other credit cards. I went through a messy patch to put it politely.

Thanks for the advise. I am looking forward to the middle of August when the vast majority have gone off the file and all my closed accounts are showing as closed with the Credit Reference Agencies.

So what has changed - you still have the loan? which consolidated credit card debt and you want to increase your limit on another card?

They will do an internal search, so it'll depend on your account dealings with them. If it has been decreased already this year, i dont think they will increase it by much, if any.
