Amazon Jersey - watch out!

 You're probably aware that Amazon UK are adding obtaining an item from their Jersey branch as an option to their buying pages.

This is a cheaper option due to tax laws - eg even with their delivery charge, the item is less than the normal Amazon UK price but make sure you really want the item

Unlike with Amazon uk, you cannot cancel an order immediately or up to its dispatch date as Amazon Jersey is treated like any other Marketplace seller.

I ordered a DVD using the Amazon Jersey sidebar in addition to some other items, changed my mind over the DVD but couldn't immediately cancel it. An email has confirmed the above with Amazon UK's Customer Service who state that they have no control over any Amazon Jersey purchase.

It get's better - they go on to say:

"Please note that, where you are withdrawing from your purchase, and
there has been no error on our part, we will refund only the cost of
the item. We will not refund the cost of delivery or other services
provided to you in connection with your purchase"!

and:

"Amazon Jersey will notify you via e-mail when your return is
processed. This may take up to three weeks <my bold>."

So if you want to use these Guys to save a few quid, here's a warning:
- make sure you really mean it when you press the little order button!!!

I thought that you'd like to know! BTW, I've had a couple of emails from Amazon UK Customer service, but nothing yet from Amazon Jersey - make your own conclusions.

Regards
Dig

Do you think if I bought something from Dixons on the high street, then decide I don't want it you think they will refund me the petrol?

    Anyone??

I've used Amazon Jersey too. Very pleased with the service. All goods I order on line are items I know I want and have researched well to find best price, company etc. It's only with clothes that need fitting that I look for free delivery etc. However under distance selling laws don't you have 7 days to change your mind. What is the ruling under the laws for delivery costs?

Delivery cost is not the cost of the product you are buying, and not covered by distance selling laws.

I have faced a similar situation with Tesco Jersey.
I ordered an item which had a dispatch time of 2 days.
2 weeks later the item had still not been dispatched so I tried to cancel the order to be told that I couldn't.
2 months later I got a refund after 2 complaints to customers services.

I guess people should be aware that you may not get the same level of service with their any retailer's off shore subsidaries.

I doubt it. The law is only only the statute book in the UK.
I don't think companies in Jersey have to honour it.
