Okay, looking to start up a small personal-based website, but completely new to it all. I've registered a .co.uk domain with 123-reg, which has been paid for and is active (i.e. my details are shown on the whois website).
Now I need a host. Having read through some of the previous postings, I decided to go for Macoman. However, a couple of issues have arisen. The first is for the setup costs. There is the option of transferring my domain, which they charge £5 for (for 'Transfer Registrars'), alternatively, there is the option that says "I will use my existing domain, and just change my nameservers" or something very close to that. Would that achieve the same thing as transferring the domain, without incurring the cost? Secoondly, they wont allow me to use my hotmail address as my primary address. Any suggestions as to a good free email company that they will accept?
Is Macoman suitable for beginners, or are there more preferable hosting companies? I havent paid out for anything yet (bar the domain) so I'm still keeping my options open.
Cheers

Yes, you only need change the nameservers in your 123reg control panel to point to your macoman space.0 -
they have a support forum and knowledge base here http://forums.fuzioned.com/index.php?page=support
Your query was answered here http://forums.fuzioned.com/showthread.php?t=2298 .. I think it is nice to see they are not pushing for domain owners to pay and transfer. I am not connected with any of the below - I just opened a hosting package recently with Macdomains as they still had the old prices :money: , following posts from the MSE forum as well. But just seen they are now the same price as their sister companies .....
As for being a "beginner" too, their Cpanel 10 seems to be more recent then some hosting companies are offering and the support forum seems to answer most question and they have video tutorials on Cpanel. http://macoman.co.uk/cpanel.html ..........................HTH
FYI
Macdomains.net, macoman.co.uk, machosting.net and fuzioned.com are all the same company and will eventually be fuzioned.comRich people save then spend.
Poor people spend then save what's left.0
