I just got an email from everyinvestor trying to sell britishinsurance and it had the following

'As recommended in virtually all national newspapers, as well as TV programmes such as 'Tonight' with Sir Trevor McDonald and 'GMTV' with Martin Lewis

That last bit is a tad concering given that in recent days what has happened to so many with their premiums going skyward.

Cheeky it might be, but would someone from Moneysavingexpert want to refute this now

Put us all at ease, I think it is unfair advertising by BritishInsurance to quote Martin Lewis if it no longer stands

I got the following email from iprotect

    Dear Ms Morris,

Thank you for your email, in order for us to waive the exclusion period
it would have to be like for like cover and you have to have it in place
for more than six months and not claimed.
The policy will be reviewed after twelve months.

Sooooooooooooo, what ever they quote you now is the price you pay for the year. So you can pay in a lump sum for the year and there wont be a price increase for the next 12 months.

Yay. Now I just need to know if I can swap now or in July. (I swapped policys in jan so while I have 2.5 years of cover, I only have 4 months with the current policy)

3 letters today from Ant Insurance - they have more than doubled each of the three policies. 2 of the policies are loan protection and the 3rd policy is income protection. A total increase per month of £37. Over a 100% increase. I didnt realise that when I took out an insurance policy like this that they could increase the monthly payment?

I also had a letter from Ant today to say the cost of my Income Protection will be increased from the 1st of June for £7.70 to £19.86. Im wondering if I actually need this cover. My job is pretty secure I work for the county council I have full sickness pay for 12 months then half pay for the next 6 months. am I paying for something I dont necessarily need?
    thanks for any advice!
  • Ant Strike Again!!

    Hi All,

In line with quite a few others today, the premiums for my Sickness and Unemployment cover policy (£2000 Cover) have increased from the original £52.02 to £102.06 through to £180.02 in a lovely letter today.

We all expect premiums to go up but to go from £52 to £180 in under a year (well under) is a tad extreme.

    Can anyone beat this?
