Pruhealth - Caveat emptor!

My company moved from BUPA to Pruhealth last year. Boy, what a bad move! Compared to BUPA – who were so easy to deal with and get consultations and treatments paid for with no quibbling, Pruhealth on the other hand seem to find excuse after excuse not to cough up payment for consultations and treatments. Their quota based system for treatment costs is so confusing compared to BUPA. Pruhealth have even insinuated that I should have questioned my GPs recommended choice of Consultant because he cost too much for them to cover it fully. Who the heck is Pruhealth to question my GP choice! Never ever had this level of bureaucracy with BUPA!

Pruhealth red-tape is unbelievable compared to BUPA. Pruhealth seems more interested in giving you a gym membership – which I have no interest in; invade my personal privacy by monitoring what I eat and where I buy it. Next they will want my DNA profile mapped! Scary stuff and besides what does all this have to do with a health "insurance" policy. Sounds more like a gym membership policy and invasion of privacy!

All in all I am disgusted with Pruhealth and how they have managed issues I have had. I would go back to BUPA in a flash and will be petitioning my company to ditch Pru and go back to BUPA!

My personal advice would be to steer well clear of Pruhealth, unless you want a gym membership and a bureaucratic health insurer.

Pruhealth - "Let the buyer beware".

    Have to agree. :(

I joined PruHealth due to the free gym membership after a year. No problem but.....I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the end of February (2nd year of policy) and had an immediate operation. Just finished radiotherapy today. As the NHS were so quick I elected to be paid back from PruHealth as a day patient. Still don't have the money from them and today my premium has doubled halfway through the policy year. No reason given.

They seem to be desperate not to give me my money and I've been refused twice. Firstly, the discharge letter from the hospital wasn't "clear enough". Second time they said my consultant, who is well known in his field, wasn't on their list of recognised breast surgeons.

They've told me to get the hospital to fax them the details of my treatment plan for radiotherapy. I'm fully expecting that to be refused too.

Be very careful of this company when you fall ill

Just off the phone to Pru Health. All has been resolved. I'll believe it when the money is in my account!

Quite a few people have reported their PruHealth premiums doubling, apparently an confirmed as an error .
