Please Help-Banking Problems!!

Hi all

Hoping someone can help me here as I seem to have exhausted all options that I am aware of. My bank periodically sends mail to my old address. I have phoned many times to advise them, they investigate it and get back to me saying its been sorted. Then guess what, I get more mail to the old address. This has been going on for 3 years now. I have been through the bank's own complaints procedure, with no avail. They say that although I changed my address with them 5 years ago, I then contacted them and asked them to send some mail to a mailing address. This is complete rubbish so I have complained again. You get someone different everytime you call, they then take down what they think is the issue, you then get another reply from the complaints dept. but not actually answering the query or addressing the problem. I have contacted the Financial Ombudman but they're not interested as there's not been enough complaints, the FSA can't help as it's not in their remit and the Information Commissioner's office (as it's a data protection issue) can't act on 1 case alone. I have also emailed/written to the bank in question numerous times but I don't get a rely. I then have to call again and explain the whole sorry saga to another person. Cue vicious cycle all over again. Please help me before I get even more mail wrongly addressed!!! P.S They don't seem bothered by the identity fraud implications....

  • This is not an attempt at a flippant answer - but why don't you close the account?

They have had 5 years to sort this out, they have not managed it, so why would you want to bank with them any-way if they are so incompetent?

Can I ask who the bank is?

Hi, I ask myself this question regularly also! I am a student, have an overdraft, been with them for 28 years and quite honestly, can do without the hassle of switching. Also, more importantly, if I thought my 'protest' would make an ounce of difference to them, I would close the a/c. It's Lloyds BTW

Can do without the hassle of switching as opposed to the happy, trouble-free life you're having with them over a simple issue like a change of address, with all the potential for ID theft, misuse of your account etc it entails if your details fell in the wrong hands?

No-one is talking about a protest, simply common sense: if they can't handle something as simple as that, do you really want to trust them with your money? If they can't perform, you move, simple as that. It won't make a difference to them, but it will to you, and that's the point of it.

Switching these days is not the painful process it once was, and you'll only have to do it once instead of having to keep chasing LTSB for their mistakes. Think about it. ;)

    DON'T CALL.

If you are determined to stay with Lloyds, put your complaint clearly in writing and send it to

Thanks for all your replies. I have signed up for email statements so they're not the problem. It's the erroneous crap they send out and info about my overdraft that sometimes goes astray. I also am not sure if you can change banks with an overdraft? I am a student but wasn't when I arranged it. Have looked into opening a student a/c but you must be in credit... Will try the CEO - thanks for the address.
