My little crossbreed has been insured with Tesco since the age of 8 months. He'll be 10 years old in a couple of months and the premium on his policy has increased to £30. 11 with excess of £60.00. I don't begrudge a single penny spent on him but I'm overwhelmed by the various policies available and really want to get a 1st class policy for him. Thankfully, he's fit and well but he's reaching an age where things do go wrong and just want to make sure he's got the best cover available. Can anyone out there give me some advice? many thanks.

my westie is 15 now, from a puppy to he was 13 he had insurance which we claimed for 3 times on.
the total for these bills were £800,we paid the first £210 (excess) and 25% of the cost before we saw any money then it took ages to pay out.
we worked out it cost us around £4000 over the years so we canceled the policy and started a savings account for him paying £25 a month direct debit.
he has over £500 in his account and is the richest dog in the park !!
 but it your choice !0

Bear in mind that if you chance Insurers, a new Insurer will exclude cover for any existing medical problems0

It's a tough decision. My old girl developed a tumour behind her eye at the age of 12 and it would have cost us over £3,000 to treat her without insurance. Wish I'd started saving up when he was a puppy but think I'd rather be safe than sorry now.my westie is 15 now, from a puppy to he was 13 he had insurance which we claimed for 3 times on.
