Insurance Write-Off - help please

I've just been told that my car's a write-off (own-fault accident) & my insurers have notified me of the claim value.
The value they've quoted seems a little on the low side, how can i challenge?
Whilst the vehicle was fairly new & in good condition, 03-plate Volvo, it was also high mileage (more than 180k). Insurance compmany has looked on Autotrader & found two similar cars as examples, both of which are over 100 miles from where i live. Can i ask for main-dealer only comparisons?
thanks

you can certainly ask them to reconsider the valuation, but they tend to use glass's guide anyway, whats the valuation ??Sealed pot challenger # 10

The problem is I very much doubt many dealers would forecourt a 180k model thus its not a fair indication of market value of your car.
You need to find others on autotrader, at auctions etc of similar age, spec and mileage worth more.0 -
Bear in mind just because cars are advertised at price x it does not mean they actually sell for that amount, so the adverts will help you but just because you have adverts showing one price does not mean that is the amount your Insurer will be obliged to pay you0
