What exactly has Britain done for Poland? Very little. The fact that the UK charges 60 pounds just to obtain a permit to work in the UK is nonsense - especially as we don't charge anything for UK nationals to work in Poland.
I read the times actually.
But what has Britain done for Poland? Are you wanting me to go as far back as World War 2? Or just since we opened our borders without caps and then offered the NHS, Benefits and every other right a UK citizen gets..... All the while letting you claim your entitlement in Poland.
If you call that 'very little' then when the EU elections come up i shall be more than justified in voting for whichever 'anti' European party there is - Which to be fair i was going to do anyway.
Infact for what its worth i would quite gladly put my savings toward having every Pole removed from this country. I am sure i am not alone either.0 -

What about the Poles fighting for Great Britain in RAF...?
What about Jalta Conference...?From Poland...with love.
They are (they're) sitting on the floor.
Their books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.0 -

You asked me what England has ever done for Poland.
All i did was mention a couple of things. One of which being Join WW2 and then open our doors. Still, thats easy to forget when Britain charges £67 for a Visa for your dodgy neighbours0 -
Well I would also put you down as a little biggoted but in a funny way
I have to say coming from Bradford the Poles who are generally hard working are not our main imigration problem in this country. I better shut up now before the Racial Equality people come and knock on the door.:rolleyes:Totally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy0 -

I was wrong - it's 90 pounds!
I'm pretty sure they're allowed to do this under the transitional arrangements - but because of this WRS scheme, they can deny benefits to anyone that hasn't been working in the UK for 12 months continously. I'm not certain as to what benefits it affects - but my gut feeling is that much of the hype about 'POLES CLAIMING BENEFITS' is complete nonsense because no-one has bothered to register.
Certainly, the Poles I came into contact with when in the UK after 1st May 2004 - none of them had bothered to register. Draconian punishments are promised - but in reality, the scheme is dreadfully thought out.
As for the bigot...sturll wrote:I read the times actually.

Offered benefits? You'll see from my post above that benefits are barred to those that haven't exercised their EEA treaty rights. To exercise such rights, you have to be in the UK for 12 months, pay 90 pounds to the relevant authority AND then apply for an EEA stamp. The EEA stamp queue currently has a backlog of something like 16 months.
As for 'claiming our entitlement' in Poland - *what* entitlement? We cease to be covered by the Polish NFZ the minute we stop working in Poland. Anyway, if Poles in the UK are paying National Insurance - why shouldn't they be covered by the UK NHS?If you call that 'very little' then when the EU elections come up i shall be more than justified in voting for whichever 'anti' European party there is - Which to be fair i was going to do anyway.Infact for what its worth i would quite gladly put my savings toward having every Pole removed from this country. That's fine, we'll leave and you'll pay twice the price for products that come from manual labour because Brits won't work for minimum wage. Don't come crying to me because your nicely filleted fish costs twice the price because they had to employ Brits to do the very same job
Id happily pay twice if it meant a British person was employed.0 -
Wow i'm disgusted! I am a fully fledged English lass but i'd much rather see a Polish doctor who actually in my own experience tend to be alot more attentative and less dismissive than a few (note i mean few/minority) of the English doctors i've seen, as long as they are the best suited to the job that's all that matters to me. Same goes for any other profession - what on earth has it got do with race, if the person is the best qualified and paying their national insurance i couldn't care if they were a blooming alien with green skin and 3 eyes thank you very much. It's this small mindedness from some that often makes me ashamed to call myself English!!!
Why on earth would you be visiting Russia if you feel such a way? - please don't go and make a bad name for us English, this is the reason we are often stereotyped as ignorant (i tell you some of the English people i have come accross while travelling in France really disgusted me...you cannot go to another country and be rude because the person you are talking to cannot understand your English - why not try to use their language because after all you are in THEIR country?)
Sorry this hits a raw nerve with me! Rant over!Mummy of 3 lovely munchkins :smileyhea0 -
