  • I tend to get mine from aldi and get whatevers on special offer. I have spent ages on the garden though and planted loads of veg and rhubarb so hoping I won't have to spend too much in the near future.

The local market is quite good but I notice the prices have gone up recently. I reckon if you buy whatevers on offer you should be ok. :)

I get mine from Tesco and have no problems keeping it for a week or so, I do have some of those bags that keep veg for longer.. but I do wonder if the quality of the nutrients and benefits of fresh veg have deteriorated over the week even though the veg looks and tastes fresh and tasty... how long can you keep it ?and it still be better than frozen/tinned or is it all a level playing field to start with when it comes go goodness?.. I am I defeating the object of using fresh veg by keeping it too long?

The Cooperative veg is good quality.
I also get veg from the local butchers shop and sometimes Tesco or Lidl (if planning to use it fairly soon).

  • I normally get mine from sainsbury's and keep it all in the fridge and it seems to last ages,i occasionally get some from lidls as it is very near to me and they tend to have really good offers on their produce most of the time, although sometimes it doesn't last as long but i don't mind when your getting a cucumber and a lettuce for 39p,compared to £1 something from tesco!

  • I like Morrissons, the veg is good value and they sometimes do smaller packs of things. e.g. They do 2 small packs of iceberg lettuce for 99p, which my daughter likes to snack on or have with her sandwich.

Local greengrocer or the market usually... fresher, cheaper, less packaging, more locally grown stuff, buy as much/little as you want (if you only want one chilli pepper, no need to buy a pack of 5 like you have to in the supermarkets) etc.
    TOP MONEYSAVING TIP

Make your own Pot Noodles using a flower pot, sawdust and some old shoe laces. Pour in boiling water, stir then allow to stand for two minutes before taking one mouthful, and throwing away. Just like the real thing!

I have an organic box from boxfreshorganics, and veg lasts for ages. I currently have a 1 week and 3 days old lettuce that is still fine, carrots last upwards of 2 weeks, well worth it in my opinion.

Tesco's and Asda never seems to last long on the high street, Sainsburys and Waitrose I find are the best.
