igcomms.com

Hi all.
Long time since i have visted this awesome site, but as is often the case, two problems have presented themselves, one of which i wish to post here.
Friend of mine,Ray, received a phone call last night, asking him to confirm his credit card details. Which of course, he felt uncomfortable doing.
They said that the bank owed him money, from, i believe, service charges, and that they would, on his behalf, recover a fairly substancial amount.
The process, being, that the company would send Ray forms, to be completed/ returned.
The company would then go through the courts, and gain an amount, to be paid to Ray.
Ray decided to visit Nat west bank, who could not/ would not advise.
Ray then phoned customer service, for his credit card, and was informed that
igcomms.com had attempted to withdraw £99, an amount that was mentioned, in initially phone conversation.
Ray cancelled his card, and asked for replacement.
So.....is this legit?
Any information greatly appreciated.

You should visit this site more often and then you'd not be scammed so easy. Maybe.

If you paid for and agreed to a service then I don't see much wrong with them charging your credit card.

If you've never received that service then you should ask them to provide it and if they don't contact your bank to complain.
  • Thank you Chris.

Chris was posting on my behalf.
It was not 2.5 Chris who got "Scammed", it was me.
I am retired, and am not used to the deviant methods of solicitoring services etc.
I was lead to believe during phone conversation that the gentleman i was talking to was from bank, and that i was under no obligation of any sort.
I went to the bank in person, before Chris posted, and they would not, could not help.
Strange though, during the phone conversation, i felt that the gentleman was recording, but not all the time.
    Verbal contract?

Thank you for your advice/replies, Typhoon2000, and Jemma-T.
  • Hey

According to Ministry of justice the companies registered with them are at this link in your web browser

    claimsregulation.gov.uk/search.aspx

Also, as you all would be aware nobody is going to get their money back till the court case is heard

the assist claim company is at
Address: The Assist Pack Company t/a IGComms
    29-31 /8 Ellesmere House
    City Mill Lane
GO 646-- there is no such postcode and the county name is not there

    while IGCOMMS is at
    IGCommunications,
    3rd Floor,
    29-31 Drake Street,
    Rochdale,
    Lancashire
    OL16 1RX
    United Kingdom

Incidently both the companies have the same phone numbers while the addresses should be just 200 miles from each other

The owners also seem to be the same while the site talks of them as 2 companies which sell mobile phones.

Best part of igcomms Refund Policy "..Refunds will be subject to a cancellation fee of 25% of fee paid for The Assist Pack or £15 whichever is higher."

Kinda indicates they want to make money even when they mis-sell.
  • Both my Mother and Auntie have been caught by this company. To say they give a refund is not true they state they give a 75% one but in fact my Mother and Auntie are still waitiung with no hope of getting anything.
THey were both told it was thier bank calling but it was not.
I believe that they had the bank details because they had jusat changed thier phones to ezetalk which happens to be part of IGCOMMS which also has Assist Claims as a company of thiers. It appears they pass personal details on including phone numbers so not actually cold calling much more organised. They know they are calling elderley people and seem top target them

I would like to respond to a comment made in the post by ORBITALONE 0f the 25/6/2009. In this post it is claimed "ezetalk which happens to be part of IGCOMMS".

This is absolutely untrue, as a director of eZe Talk I can confirm that there is not and has never been any sort of business relationship with this company or any other company offering these dubious services.

We are a telecoms business which was established in 2000 and have many thousands of satisfied customers throughout the UK. We would never ask for any credit or debit card details from our customers without first confirming with the customer that we can tell them:-

    Their last invoice number
    Date of invoice
    Invoice amount
A password the customer can set up with us on their account

Then the customer can be 100% sure that they are actually talking to eZe Talk Limited and not some rogue just fishing for their card details.

It is common practice now for rogue companies just to pick any telephone number out of the directories and dial it to "sell" their product or to try and trick the recipient in to doing something they will regret. Under no circumstances should anybody give any of their Credit/Debit card details to somebody on the end of the phone without first confirming that they are speaking to the correct people. Such as the simple security steps I mentioned above.

I hope the above both clarifies our position and the warnings I give are heeded.

Quote that so it's always here.
  • as a director of eZe Talk

If you're genuinely a director of the company perhaps you like to train your staff properly. I received a call from one of your salespeople on Sunday afternoon. Firstly we're registered with TPS so no phone call should ever be made to the number. When I informed your salesperson of that fact he claimed I had to give him a registration number so that you wouldn't call again, when in fact the onus is on your business to make sure you aren't calling TPS registered numbers.
