Where should we go - help required!

My friend and I want to go away for a long weekend, but are having trouble finding a suitable destination. The problem is that I live in London and he lives in Washington! We are trying to find somewhere that is relatively cheap for both of us and doesn't involve a huge amount of travelling for either of us. A tall order!

Neither of us mind doing a 7-8 hour flight as long as there are no connecting flights.....so we need a place that has direct flights from both Washington and London (preferably Heathrow).

Anyone got any suggestions?

I presume you mean Washington DC ? If so then why not try Reykjavik ?

How about Halifax (Nova Scotia): for a city on the sea experience.
Or St John's (Newfoundland): for a wilder break.

Both are on the flight path between Heathrow and Washington (as is Reykjavik).
Jazz is Air Canada's economyarm and flies to both.
