Marriott guarantee too good to be true?

Hi fellow moneysavers!

Currently planning a budget holiday to Florida and came across the Marriott look no further guarantee. An extra 25% off the lowest rate found elsewhere sounds spectacular so there must be something i'm missing.

One hotel which Marriott quotes about £750 for 2 weeks can be found for £505 on Monarch Hotels. After Marriotts discount it would be around £385, a huge saving. I'd only want to make a reservation and not prepay so perhaps they wouldn't offer the guarantee?

OK ..... This is how Tojo sees it.

Marriott are quoting £54 a night ...... and you appear happy with £54 a night?

Monarch Hotels are quoting £36 a night.

With the Marriott guarantee you might if successful pay £27.50 per night.

So..... for a two week holiday in Florida you might potentially save £100?.... Then again maybe not?

Tojo's advise is to read the T's and C's ..... If you think you have a case book your hols and be damned. :D

I've never had success with any of these hotels guarantees. They always find a back door.

They certainly look for the way out, so you have to cover all the exits:

Take a screen shot of the cheaper deal. Make sure it's in the same currency (if you let them convert, they use a magic rate that always works in their favour).

Make sure the deal is identical (including things like cancellation costs/room type/bed type/any meal plan/sea view etc/hotel floor/etc).

And don't take their first "no" as final. Argue back at them if you know you are strong ground.

I have had lots free nights (on the Wyndhams guarantee) when the price difference has been as low as 1 cent!

Thanks for the replies so far. I'm tempted to make a standard reservation and see what happens. Would like to know just how specific Marriott are with this, their T&Cs are relatively straight forward. I really don't want to book their prepaid rate just incase they don't accept the claim, their prices are extortionate!

I've had many successes with the Marriott 'Look No Further' best rate guarantee. Mine and others' can be found HERE.

Please feel free to PM me if you want any guidance.

Heres a list of "Best rate Marriott hotels for the Orlando Area"

Almost all compare VERY,VERY FAVOURABLY with Marriotts own rates. Some are actually over 50% lower even b4 the extra discount is applied!!

As Glenn The Baker will confirm, this method of using a price comparison site such as www.budgetflyer.co.uk or www.hotelscomparison.com to find these deals makes it easy.
In the past, many of us enjoyed FREE stays by exploiting a similar but alas now discontinued "Double the Difference Guarantee" by Easyjethotels.

    It really works
