A few Car Insurance questions

I am due to renew on the 25th. I have a 1.6HDI (110BHP) 307. 05 plate. licence dates back to may 2004 and I am 25. I have 5 claims to me name
1. 10/2004, my fault,
2. 11/2006, not my fault
3. 03/2007, not my fault
4. 12/2007, not my fault
5. 08/2008, my fault.
This leaves me with 1 years no claims.
I am currently looking at £617 renewal plus £25 legal cover with £500 excess. (this is with swift)
Can anybody suggest ideas to get it lower or where I can go to find lower? Obviously the number of claims dont help my cause but how is it my fault for 12 months I apparently had a bullseye painted on my car
Or how to get the premium paid at a lower % rate
Ta.

With a claims history like that you should count yourself lucky you can get insurer.0

With a claims record like yours I would seriously recommend you avoid Swift as there is a good chance you will get to experience their claims "Service" which from all accounts can leave a lot to be desired. (Do a search of MSE Forums for Swift).
The premium you have been quoted combined with your claims record and no claims bonus actually looks pretty competitive.
Bear in mind that even on a non fault accident your Insurers will have costs they cannot recover such as the admin in dealing with your claim.
If you keep your nose clean for a year or two you should find your premium reduces quote a lot0 -

Last time I checked I had 2 fault claims! With your attitude you would think I had a drink driving ban!The will to save every money saving penny we can0 -

In fairness I had the last fault claim under swift and they havent been bad. But I am considering swapping as ladybird quote £668 with £300 excess. but am dubious of that, I dont think their quotes software interacts well with search engines.
I think the killer is the cost of finance. *sigh*
