Moving out - Van hire from Tunbridge Wells to Middlesbrough

Hi all,

We are moving home to be closer to family in the North East in early June.

I am pricing up van hire for Friday (evening) 5th and Saturday (till 8pm) 6th June. The journey is approx 300 miles. Ideally, we would pick up the van in Kent and then drop it off in the North East.

We will be moving a double bed, tv, tv stand, coffee table, 3 x wardrobes, pc desk, cd rack and several large boxes. A large van (perhaps Luton?) would be needed.

I have looked at van hire companies such as Hertz, Europcar etc and it is coming out about £300. I need something closer to £100 ideally.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Cheers

G.

    sorry,

i was going to reccomend 1car1 but just found out they went into administration recently. Shame as they were brilliant, cheap and allowed you to pickup and drop off at different locations.

    good luck

Hi, you will definitely need to use one of the national van hire companies as they have the network of locations throughout the UK which allows them to offer one way van hire. You could also try Van Hire 3000 and Holiday Autos, I don't think easyVan offer one way anymore.

Search for the Compare Van Hire web site, take a look at the comparison page to see who offers what.

Van Hire 3000 are brokers and should offer a good deal.

We hired a 3.5 ton truck from a place near Gatwick once, it was very reasonable.
I think it was called Choices, it was near a roundabout between Gatwick & Crawley on the A23.
