Apologies if this has been posted before but it is useful to know that instead of paying the hefty fees to the credit reference agencies to get your report you can demand them for the more reasonable fee of £2 under the data protection act.
Remember they usually offer this service once-only for free, so this would be for subsequent reports.
Full details are on the website of the information commissioner's office. Google for ICO, visit the site and then click on 'for the public' on the left, followed by 'credit' on the right.

Alternatively, see page 1 of the *How to obtain credit reports* sticky at the top of this board
Btw, you can telephone the CRAs quoting the reference number and date of your report and they will advise you of subsequent updates over the phone for up to two months afterwards, so there's no need to order further copiesPeople who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
Yes when you pay the monthly fee to credit angencies the only thing extra you get is a 'credit score' which other than giving you a warm glow if it is a high number, is irrelavent in comes to applying for credit and they do some math for you by calculating total available and used credit. A wate of money IMHO, cancel after the free period.0
