ive just looked back at my bills for the last 12 months and units used are:
Gas 14300
electric 2662
thanks0 -
The 1245 units of gas may have been the correct figure, bear in mind that the actual units on the meter are then converted into kWh via a formula i.e. units*1.02264*39.3/3.6 for billing purposes
1245 units is then 13900 kWh0 -

At the end of the day you are absolutely correct. The bottom line is the unit price.
Other things might have a slight effect like 1 month free at the end of 12 months, or £60 rebate after 12 months (NPower). But beware of these, NPower get their £60 off you to be able to give it back again.
I trawled all the companies for their unit prices and made my decision from there with a capped rate from Scottish Power. And boy am I glad I did. Peace of mind until Oct 97 and over £200 per year less that I would now be paying Powergen.
By the way, to the average user, standing charge or no standing charge make very little or no difference. If you work out the extra you pay on the first x amount of units, it equals the 90 or so days of standing charge.0 -
Thanks for all the help, have switched to london energy..0
