Advice wanted - Christening Gift

I wrongly presumed that I would be invited to the Christening of a friends baby, not really sure why I've not been invited but anyway
I bought a Bunnykins christening cup a while ago as I knew that my friend was having her baby christened and I thought it would be a nice gift. I would still like to give the gift but not sure how to go about it, what shall I write in card etc. Any help would be appriciated as I don't want my friand to feel bad for not inviting me and I don't want her to invite me just because I have given a present IYSWIM.
Thanks.

difficult one
if u wait until afterwards she could think you are making a point that you weren't invited. If you give it before she may think you are fishing for an invite.
could you not ask someone else who is going to take it along on the day for you?
I guess in the current climate people are cutting down on numbers for events so don't worry too muchA very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
Where does the time go? :think:0 -
Are you sure you've not been invited, and its not that she hasn't got round to inviting you or the invite has gone astray?
If the former, it may simply be that there is limited capacity, so I wouldn't see it as any reflection on your friendship.
If you know when the Christening is, I'd call round (or post if too far away) the gift in the week prior to the Christening. There is no such thing as a free lunch. Its only free because you've paid for it.
Noone can have everything they want and the sooner you learn that the better.
MSE Aim: To have more "thanks" than "posts"! :T0 -
Thanks for the replies, I'm sure I haven't been invited. Invites went out about a month ago and there has been no query over RSVP so that rules out it being lost in the post. I'm sure its a numbers thing so I understand.

This is what I want to avoid. The only people that will be going who live me are her parents and I don't really want to give it them as they would probably say something to her.
I think I'm going to have to post it so it gets there the day after the Christening (and hope it doesn't get broken) But I still don't know what to write in the card

I think its too easy to over complicate things and worry too much about the 'right' actions. Send her the present because you want the child to have and say "congratulations on the Christening etc" just like you would have done if she invited you but you couldn't attend. She will appreciate it and if she feels bad then so be it, but you're friends and I'm sure it will blow over0
