Quick Emirates check in question

I'm just about to check in for my flight home from Melbourne via Dubai to Glasgow with Emirates.
I chose seat 14k, which is one of 3, no one in the middle and one already at the aisle but looking at the seat plan, there seems to be about 27 rows of 4 seats in the middle that appear 'empty'. Do Emirates assign everyone a seat as they book ?
I was lucky enough to get 4 seats to myself on the way out but for there to be this many seats again for a 17 hour flight would be heaven (it is stopping for 2 hours at Singapore, so I am assuming it may fill up there)
Think I should gamble to try and get 4 seats ? Anyone know how it works ?
Thanks in advance

I believe that bookings done through travel agents/tour operators are not assigned seats at time of booking hence it looks like loads are available just now whereas when you are on board you will see that's not the case. Gamble just now and ask at check in and stopover points to get the best choice available.0

That's kinda what I thought, i.e people not gone into their booking to choose seats, but there were easily over 100 + seats empty on way over on the middle alone, let alone lots of spare ones all over****************************0 -

If you do gamble make it a clever one and opt for a row nearer the back. Most people for whatever reason pick seats nearer the front, and check-in computers usually start there and work backwards, so 4 or 5 rows in from the back is usually the last place to fill up. Not guaranteed obviously, but it's a good start.0 -
yeah it does fill up in singapore (we flew into Bankok) and then possibly again in dubai. aww wish i was in ozzy again!

Yes you'll likely pick up in Dubai. My flight from Dubai was full of passengers returning from Australia. Still you might be lucky.0

Was mega lucky for all 3 flights, there were over 100 spare seats on each flight, the most being from Dubai to Glasgow, it was EMPTY !!****************************0
