Aargh !!! ebay buyers again

Sold a 36" TV on ebay yesterday for £57. Great TV which cost me over £1200 5 years or so ago. It was a great big huge CRT though and now we've bought a plasma.
Anyway, this TV was in perfect working order. Only problems due to normal wear and tear were a battered remote, and a small scratch on the screen (which you couldnt see when watching). I did highlight both these items on the ebay listing.
So buyer came to pick it up yesterday afternoon. Took ages to get it in his car cos the thing weighs about 14 stone !!!
Had a call last night. Can he bring it back because hes not happy. The remote is too 'scruffy' and the scratch on the screen is going to annoy him....
Aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhh! It cost you £57 !!!!!!!!

Swore I would never advertise "collect" again for this very reason..

I'd tell him no, he bought a tv that is 5 years old, and he must have read the description! did you indicate on your listing that you would not accept returns? The person sounds like a right pleb, wants something for nothing!!0

I assume he paid cash on collection and that you are registered as a personal seller? In that case tell him politely that you consider the deal closed as it is a natural assumption that the buyer is happy once they have inspected the goods and accepted them by paying cash.
You can't stop him leaving you a neg but you don't have to refund.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I wouldn't worry about it. Private sales of this type are usually 'sold as seen' and on a 'buyer beware' basis. If he'd refused to take it then so be it, but who's to say he hasn't damaged it himself?0

For some reason, the buyer paid by paypal (cheers mate) before arranging to collect it.
I guess if I dont let him return it, he can tell paypal he never picked it up.
Not sure what hes playing at. Expecting an A1 £1200 TV for £57 !!!!
I KNOW the scratch wasnt that bad because it was out main family TV until about two weeks ago and it has worked well for years every since we had it.
Some people are just weird...Cymru am Byth !!! :j:j:j0 -
Having used paypal puts a whole new slant on this, he might be genuine but there is always the chance that he is a chancer as well. There is a possibility that he will either go for a complete fraudulent claim of item not received, although that is probably unlikely, or he might try a SNAD claim in which case he will be expected to return the item before you issue a refund anyway.
The paypal on collected items is a nightmare and one which concerns me greatly and the reason why I no longer sell items that need to be colelcted on ebay.
It is covered here:

I'm sure he has a right to change his mind if it wasnt mentioned on the ebay page.0

Why do you think that?
If the TV was bought from a private seller (ie, not business seller) and was collected, it was sold as seen.
There's no automatic right to return it and the DSRs don't apply. However, as others have pointed out, there could be a problem because of the Paypal payment (INR).
