Hole in plastic pond requires..............

Does anyone know how to, or had experience of sealing a small hole in a plastic pond?. At the back of my mind, I seem to recall fabric type fibre glass squares which when laid on holes would give a permanent seal, but plastic, not so sure.

think of the fiber matting used in car body repair kits and the epoxy resin. This does not adhere to all plastics, so may need a liner after.
small hole? blob of silicone sealant covered by a 2 pence piece to stop damage by moving rocks etc.GOOGLE it before you ask, you'll often save yourself a lot of time.0 -
I have seen pond liner repair kits in my local garden centre type place.

Please don't think I'm lazy and not googling myself. My aim I suppose was to see what if any success others had had. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Not having a dig, I wasn't sure if you knew such a thing existed.

But available in the more hands-on type car spares establishments, probably not Halfords.
I've used it to repair holes in petrol tanks on vehicles and portable generators, so it may be something to consider.
Or on a lighter note 25 litres of Radweld in the pond. :eek:Move along, nothing to see.0 -
You just need to ensure that whatever you use is not harmful to your fish, if you have any. Not all silicone is safe for fish and can kill them!Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0

Epoxy putty. Available in your local pound shop.
When the stuff first came out they had an advert that showed it being used underwater to fix a leak in a swimming pool.
Not sure about it's affect on fish, though.0 -
Here's a link to the kit you need:

Am watching and reading your replies. I won't know the size of the holes till Friday. Am given to understand they are small but we'll see.
I have a raised patio pond with goldfish that I won't disturb. Also a sunken large plastic container from Wilkinsons that houses two newts from last year, hundreds of tadpoles and no doubt last years from and toad will appear soon. It is these I aim to relocate. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
