Failed Thomson box (lots of them)

Along with a lot of other people yesterday (Sunday) my Thompson box failed and having read on another forum that this was due to a down load from Topuptv I have been trying since then to get mine back up and running .
There is now on the topuptv website a stop press about it. Offering advice and instructions on the fix its
a software revert, a reformat HDD which loses all recordings and the one 'if the red light won't stop flashing' (mine) which also states that this may be a 'fatal problem'
Having tried first the instructions given in the manual, plus changing batteries, and the Topuptv instructions which are the same as given to me by anothe forum member (thanks again for your help). My box still won't switch on and continues to flash away all by itself, so spooky!
On reading the mass of posts on the other forum, some have already taken their box back to the retailer.
Mine came from Argos in august last year on the 3 month bnpl. I haven't got the original packaging nor the receipt, but i do have the statement showing the item, but only as a reference number and amount and of course i have the online payment receipt.
As it looks like my box has been killed off, should i be taking mine back too?
It was working perfectly all Saturday and when O/H tried to watch the footie on sunday, nothing!! My other concern is that we terminated our sub with them last week, its due to end 11th, so if we don't get it sorted now topup won't want to know
Any advice?, thanks

I bought a tompson box September last year still have the receipt from Argos, It is in my daughters room so doesnt get too much use however IT WILL NOT turn on despite following advice to reboot it? just a solid light Argos say if I take it back they will send it for repair??? menwhile my DD is without freeview etc, We have had umpteen problems with this noisy crashing I wish I had bought her just basic hard drive but after spending £99 on this box I dont know what to do next? are Argos right to send it for repair? should I get a replacement as it is obviously faulty? how long should these boxes last? any advice, comments please0

Mine sorted finlly by me I had to 'reboot' but did loose all saved but at least it is back to normal
Topuptv have now put a video on their site to show how this is done if that's any help to you.
Mine was stuck on red now back working as before.
Once rebooted you do have to rescan channels, epg will be bck to normal after the next download which i beleive is around 11.30 each day
So I haven't needed to return after all.0 -
