I wrote to my photo editor support as the reinstalled prog after a format kept coming up with a request to register (It had previously been) which continually failed. Below is the reply received.
The registration information is derived from the installation number, which in turn is generated as part of the Windows Installer routine. As you have re-installed the software, a new installation number will have been generated.
If you could provide me with this new installation number, I will be more than happy to provide the registration information that you require.
Where do I find the needed number and how will it be described?
Latest install is XP Home SP3

It might help someone answer you if you said what "photo editor" you were referring to.0

I assume they're talking about a number generated when you ran the Windows Installer for Serif PhotoPlus, not when you installed Windows.
I just did a quick Google search for you, and it appears that if you go to Help > Register, it'll show you the installation number.0
why that should matter as the Q was about the windows installation number, but if it does the answer is Serif PhoPlus.
