Can anyone recommend a hotel in Luton? I will be staying overnight next weekend so somewhere near the station would be good.
also can anyone recommend a reasonable place for an evening meal where I will not get treated like a freak as i will be on my own!
Cheers

"Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee."

Hi
We've only stayed over night when using the airport and have stayed at holiday inn express either at the airport or at one junction off the motorway (jn10?), when I was looking for these I used http://www.4hotels.co.uk/uk/luton.html so hope it helps.
As for eating we went to the local Brewers Fayre, it's about 5 minutes drive from the airport, and its like a small country pub.
Presume there's more places by the station and in town.

Does it have to be Luton? Harpenden is 10 minutes down the road and also has a mainline station. It's much nicer if you're on your own and has some lovely hotels and restaurants
Let me know if you want more info

Bit of an oxymoron there methinks
Previous poster is right, somewhere like Harpenden is much nicer and its on the same rail line as Luton. Other options are St Albans.0 -
I don't see why it has to be Luton. I will be at a training day at Potteridge Bury training centre and staying overnight to then travel back oop north the next day - is Harpenden near there?"Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. best thing to do is put the postcode of your training centre into something like streetmap.co.uk, and work out the options from there.
Must admit I have never heard of Potteridge Bury0 -
you spelt it incorrectly. Iits Putteridge !
Anyway found this B&B on google http://www.putteridgebury.com/0
