My kitchenaid arrived today from Amazon. They have the blue one at £249 I got the cream one for £279.
I am just searching now for things to make to justify my birthday blowout!
I asked this question a while a go and was told that the kenwoods motor is a bit better than the kitchenaid. But I like the look of the Kitchenaid more.0 -

I really want one but can't afford it but if the Kenwood does the same then I will go for it.
Kitchen Aid has a direct drive motor while the Kenwood is belt driven. This seems to make the Kitchen Aids quieter to run than the Kenwoods, though the kenwood major we bought about a year ago (KM005) is loads quieter than the Kenwood Chef we bought about 15 years ago. I think the Kitchen Aid will be all metal components, so more similar to the Kenwood Major. The power rating of the motors on the Kenwoods is much higher than on the Kitchen Aids. I was told that this is because the Kitchen Aid is direct drive rather than belt drive (with belt drive you have a belt that connects the motor to the mechanism that turns your blade, hook, etc, whereas with direct drive the motor is seated right under the mechanism and turns it directly). However others I have spoken to reckon a more powerful belt driven motor will still be more powerful than a direct driven motor of lower power rating.
I think you also have a lot more choice of add ons with the Kenwood. For example you can't attach a liquidiser to a Kitchen Aid but you can to a Kenwood; indeed many models come with one included.
Also, Kitchen Aids are all manufactured in the USA and every part needs to come from their factory there. You will probably find that spares work out more expensive for them. With the Kenwoods, every part can be ordered as a spare. They used to be UK manufactured. I think they are mainly manufactured in the far east now, but will be cheaper than the Kitchen Aid.0
