I was fine untill I managed to lock myself out of the account online - this was to transfer to Halifax via faster payments to be ready for Standing Orders due the next day.

Fine I thought - it will unlock in an hour or so and I'll try again - NO
Fine I thought - I'll phone up and go through security to get it unlocked - NO, they can only send a new activation code through the post.
Fine I thought - I'll do the transfer over the phone while waiting for the activation code.

:mad::mad::mad: They have no way to allow transfers from the account if it is locked :mad::mad::mad: Stupid system or what ?

Cue panic log on to Halifax to change all the S/O dates. Activation code took a week to arrive. I've now moved funds to the Nat West - same back end system but I have a branch to shout at and a cash card!
Do Money Saving sites make you buy more bargains - and spend more money?

 Scary in times when Financial Institutions are falling over.

I don't like the idea of someone holding my Instant Access money and refusing to give it back to me (regardless of Newly Confirmed Security Details) until I receive a letter from them.

Do you see where I'm going with this?, how would you ever prove it's not your fault the system locked you out?

Scary Stupid System - Sack the Business Analysts

I'm still recovering from what happened online with IceSave, I eventually managed to get in online & Transfer money out before they went bust - but they reclaimed the BACS Transfer Out 3 days later.

  • Hi,

just had the same problem trying to log in, first time error, so was very careful the next time, still wrong, oh, and they won't let me link my house insurance, can't find me, doesn't recognize my policy details, still taking the monthly payments though. Will try phoning in the morning, going to close the savings account, see if I can get something better, and easier to access.

    Snap!
I've just gone through the whole process because I couldn't remember my password. You don't get a memorable fact to unlock the system, you get the whole works with a new signature to post back, new security code and registration number, then you can set a new password.
Of course this happened just before the bank holiday and vacation so by the time I tried again 2 weeks had elapsed. So I used my old security code forgetting that I'd been asked a new one on the phone.
I'm back in the loop again!
Good job I don't need instant access to my money.
To be fair this is the most secure account I possess, much more secure than my current accounts. So secure, even I can't get at it!

If you think Tesco are bad, you ought to try First Direct. What a complete load of bo**ocks. So may security passwords, User IDs, memorable words etc etc.

I have a Tesco account and, while it was a faff to get set up, now runs smoothly. With FD, every time I log on I am fully expecting to me locked out of my account.
I've got accounts with both Tesco and First Direct and I've had no problems at all. In fact they've provided me with a better level of service than most banks.
