Ipod Sync help needed please

My dh bought me a 8gb Ipod Nano and we loaded it with cd's from home using my dd's itunes playlist.
We are now on holiday and would like to download podcasts from BBC Radio. We have downloaded itunes onto DH's laptop. On connecting the ipod it asks to sync then warns us that it will delete everything. I'm really struggling here can I only load from my dd's playlist?
Any advice gratefully recieved!

If you have set it to automatically sync, then it will only sync with one iTunes library.
You need to change it to manual syncing:
