I wanna buy pregnancy tests - any recommendations?!

My DH and I are finally trying for a baby, or TTC as I believe the jargon goes ;) (Yes, I've been mooching around the pregnancy chat boards :o I will not obsess, I will NOT obsess)

Can any of you lovely mums / mums-to-be out there recommend a good place to get reliable but reasonably priced pregnancy tests from please? I know it's early days, but I don't want to get caught out and have to spend a fortune at the last minute when I just HAVE to know

Much obliged!

    Congratulations to you both...

First, are you taking folic acid tablets? they aid conception (worked for me) and are helpful to the baby for the first weeks of development (please check..I think it's the first 8 or so..)

Anyway, pregnancy tests cost a fortune but I found that my local GP practice will sell a packet of 2 for about £5 (admittedly, this was some time ago...)

    Wish you all the best!!!

  • Hi

My GP wouldn't give me a pregnancy test for free I had to got to the GUM clinic but they were booked solid.

I got actually took four pregnancy tests! I couldn't believe it was true.

I got all mine from savers. I used Two Predictor tests which were £3.99 each both gave positive results and I used a pack of two pregnency tests in one can't remember the name but they were 99p BARGAIN and though they took slightly longer to react they both gave me positives, hope that helps!

When my mum got pregnant with me she went to the doctor and told her she had being trying to get pregnant and thought that she was. The doctor asked her how she was feeling about coffee and whether she'd noticed a strong smell when cleaning out the vegetable tray in the fridge. My mum said she was noticing smells more strongly and was right off coffee so the doctor said, "Well you sound pregnant to me" and started sorting out hospital appointments and scans and stuff.

My advice would be don't buy the tests too soon or you will get obsessed! When I was TTC ;) my 2nd baby I bought them early and found myself doing the tests all the time, even when I knew I wasn't pregnant :o .

It did take me a while to get pregnant so I spent a fortune on the tests and got totally hung up on getting pregnant. If you want to buy them in early just make sure you have good willpower!

Good luck, oh I'm so broody :o

Wow, thanks everybody - that's really useful. Poundland - who'd have thought it?! That should save me a fortune. NOT that I'm going to buy loads of course - I'm going to be totally relaxed and self-restrained :rotfl:

And yes, I am taking folic acid supplements popapapa, thank you :)
