Replacing a wooden window sill?

Hi
Has anyone just replaced an wooden window sill, leaving the window in place?
My rear garage window is in good condition, but the sill is rotten and in need of replacement. I certaily dont want to replace the whole window. Is just a case of carefully knocking the old one out? Ive had a quick look round Wickes and they dont seem to sell just the sill, it looks like their windows come complete. Do I make one, or do certain places sell 'em.
Any comments would be appreciated.

Hi, you can get window cill by the length at any timber merchant (not diy store). It may be a little more difficult to chisel out the old one and re-fitt in a new length, and you will neeed to fill the joints really well after doing this!!
If you have a standard size window, it may be cheaper and easier than you think to replace the casement. Wickes do quite good cheap wooden replacements?0 -
You can buy window board in 3m lengths from B&Q (I bought some a few weeks ago - although it was one of their larger "Depot" stores)
You can get softwood board for internal, and hardwood for external cills.

its certainly possible but a lot of hard work. id rather take out the whole thing and then replace the cill.
then replace the window.
as been said, wooden windows are fairly cheap at wickes. a lot easier to replace the whole thing in one go.Get some gorm.0
