in Credit cards
Hi i have applied for quite a bit of credit in the past 6 months
i have been lucky on some and unlucky on others can anybody advise if a company such as aqua or vanquis give credit to people who have a lot of searches on there credit report as i applied for a barclaycard intial and got rejected which confused me a bit so does that mean other high interest lenders would reject me aswell?
cheers

I had a few searches with Vanquis when I applied and got accepted. Apply via Quidco for extra cashback0

How many searches do you have?Bank Accounts - Barlcays Premier[/B] - £1000 o/d, HSBC - £200 o/d- First Direct - £500
Credit Cards - Barclaycard £2000 - Silver Card £1300 - Flybe £7500 - HSBC £1000 - First Direct £2500 First Direct Gold £3000
6 credit accounts closed in 2010!
Official SOS Club number 001 - Dry until 01.07.100 -
Barclays may have different criteria to others so I would suggest trying vanquis or aqua.Got Halifax Classic to reduce my interest rate by 5% woohoo - 10/06/08 Thanks MSE!

well i'm not exactly sure cause i haven't paid for me credit report yet (i'm investigating what to do about that as i already did me 30day trial in feb) but if i count back i would say in the last month 7-8, over the last six months, including those this month, 13-14 possibly more
i know i know it sounds really bad but it is easy to get into that spiral of your rejected and you apply again because you dont understand why a company would possibly reject you :-)0 -

You can still order a paper copy of your statuatory report. Will cost you about £2 I think.Got Halifax Classic to reduce my interest rate by 5% woohoo - 10/06/08 Thanks MSE!

Put it this way, I got a mainstream card with over 150 searches in the last 6mths so anything is possible - yea, I had to appeal it but eventually got there!
Good luck.....2010 - year of the troll

Mate its all on the Vanquis/Sub Prime thread. I got citi gold (£2k) and Bank of Ireland Gold (£3k reduced to £2k then £1k cos of all my searches LOL)
So what that tells you is that Citi or ok when you get in, you're in but BOI are harder - they declined me and I had to appeal. Even then, they utilise the data retreived from CRA searches each month and reduce limit appropriately......
However, mine is due to being a new customer. Instead of giving me the downgraded card at higher APR they kept me on gold with reduced limit, after 6mth they will increase back up to the £3k minumum so long as I run my account with them satisfactory - they use internal behaviour scores I assume, after 6mths.....
Hope that helps2010 - year of the troll

Thanks mate
What happened with Tesco in the end then, did their 'additional verification' sting you like they do with me? Its because RBS still deal with them - when Tesco take full ownership they won't be as fussy! :eek:2010 - year of the troll
