Digital Camcorder - Hong Kong or USA

I'm looking to buy a digital camcorder this summer, and will be in Hong Kong and the USA. Does anyone have any idea where it might be cheaper to buy it?

I've found some quite good prices in the US via froogle.com and amazon.com, but am not sure where to start for Hong Kong! (there isn't a froogle.com.hk)

(I'm after a Panasonic SW20 or SW21 - amazon.com here)

thanks!

Can't help with Asia prices BUT as far as US goes...I bought my last few camera's (video cam and digital camera) there and very pleased with the prices there. Stores are always having sale ad's that you find in the local paper each weekend and I don't know where you will be staying...hotel or what but you can always buy from an online shop or ebay and have it sent to where you are staying ;)

Personally I would check the price at dixons tax free before you think about buying owt in the US or HK.

    Some considerations before purchasing abroad:

Do you get an international warranty, if not and the item goes wrong you may as well throw the cam away.
If you bought it in the US, it would record in NCTS, which isnt gona be a major prob if you are gona play back through an LCD/plasma however its gona be wrong if you wana play back through a normal tv, which may not be a problem for you but if nanny wants a copy of the vids you have made and has'nt got an lcd/plasma then she wont be able to watch it.
Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right

Phatbear is right we made the mistake of buying a digital Nikon in NY down near ground zero reccommended on the NY thread. Asked the chap if it had an international warranty and he said it had, it was only when problems started a few months later and we looked at the documentation it said the warranty wan't vailid outside the US. All the contact details etc were for the US. Rang Nikon in the UK and they said it didn't have an international warranty, therefore the camera was a waste of money.I bough a replacement Pentax on Amazon on a 50% off promotion and just bought a Canon for work at 50% off, so I would say best to check this site first.

The exchange rate with the HKD is very bad at the moment and you're unlikely to get a bargain.

I'm not afraid of buying abroad. All my latest gadgets have been bought abroad.
Laptop, printer, digital camera from US
    Digital SLR, lenses from Singapore/Malaysia

Doesn't matter about the video type. This camera saves to a memory card.

Already looked in Dixon's tax free, they don't have this model, and have usually found US to be cheaper than here anyway.
