Outdated Java is vulnerable to infections (especially Vundo infections) with a common thread of Java 1.4 installed.....if you have Sun Java prior to v. 1.5.0 you MUST update it.
Updating Java and Clearing Cache
[*]Under the Advanced Tab, click <Applet> tag support and select the browser(s) you are using.
[*]Under Temporary Internet Files, click the Delete Files button.
[*]There are three options in the window to clear the cache - Leave ALL 3 Checked
Downloaded Applications
Other Files
[*]Click OK on Delete Temporary Files Window
Note: This deletes ALL the Downloaded Applications and Applets from the CACHE.
[*]Click OK to leave the Java Control Panel.
Updating Java and Clearing Cache
- Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on the Java Icon (coffee cup) in the Control Panel.
- It will say "Java Plug-in" under the icon.
- If it is not visible, click on 'Switch to Classic View' in the left pane of the Control Panel or 'Other Control Panel Options'
- Please find the Update button or tab in the Java Control Panel. Update your Java then reboot.
- If you are unable to update you can manually update by going here:

Just checked mine - although it is set to 'Auto-update'.
I have the right version, Version 1.5.0 (build 1.5.0_06-b05).
Thanks for the message, anyway, PCH - always better to be safe than sorry and I wouldn't have checked it otherwise. :beer:I only exist in my own mind - if you can see, hear or read me, you are a product of my imagination.0 -
Thanks for bringing that up, BT. Hadn't thought of it before you mentioned it.0

Google's Toolbar isn't malicious, doesn't hide prior to install (there is a checkbox) and can be removed later easily.
This thread was to indicate the need to update Java. Tweak as you see fit!
