As they are not collectable types I would risk them double wrapped in plastic and then in a plain mailing sack. For collectable/expensive magazines I would use a board envelope, but not until price reached £10+ or so.

I sell quite a few old magazines and have used the double plastic and a mailing sack method to send things as far abroad as Australia and have always received excellent feedback.

Ask some one who works in an office to save 2 lids from the boxes of A4 paper (the ones with 5 reams in) - put the magazines in one, pop the other one on top (you'll have to cut the sides a little so it fits over the other one) tape up & all done! Magazines wont get damaged at all as they are well protected!
