Some Basic Car Insurance Questions FOllowing A Claim

I posted a topic a little while back after my wife crashed my car but now the claim has been settled and I need some more information. The insurance company has paid out for our written-off car. We have accepted fault.
The insurance policy was in my name with 1 years NCB and my wife was a named driver.

So here are my questions:

1a. Now the insurance company has paid out, is our policy with them completely finished? i.e. can I recover any of my premiums since I paid up in full until August?

1b. If not, if I buy another car can I transfer the remainder of my cover to the new car?

2. When I get a new car and take out insurance on it, who has to declare a claim? I am talking about on the price comparison websites where you enter your details and it says "any previous claims in the last five years?" Since it asks you for each individual person to be covered on the policy I want to make sure I get the answers right.
It was my policy but she had the crash. So is it:
- just my wife (since she was driving)
- just me (since it was my insurance)
- or both of us (for the two reasons above combined)

3. I know it is a bit of a long shot, but since it was my wife who had the crash, I don't suppose I am able to keep my no claims bonus? It was only a year so it was not protected.

It is the first time I have had to claim on my car insurance so I didn't really know what to expect.

It is surprisingly difficult to find the answers to these pretty basic questions.

Many thanks.

1a Now you have made a claim, the premium must be paid in full, so no possibility of a refund.

1b Check the policy regarding what happens after a write off (in some cases that is the end of the policy, but others do continue with a replacement car.

2 The driver responsible has to declare the incident. In this case your wife.

    3 You lose your NCD.
