just seen this, towns with less than 5% drops over the last year.

slough 1.2
sevenoaks 1.4

Well Ipswich has certainly had more drops than they are saying!

Prices there have been dropping like a stone, far more than in the village where I live...which is just down the road.

A 3 bed can now be had for less than 100k,in the boom you would struggle to get one for less than 150k.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Think I should add, the 3 beds for less than a 100k may be the more eek ones but in the boom, those same eek ones were going for lots of pennies.

Just by looking in our local paper at the pull out each week and comparing an old paper with a new one, shows how much asking prices have come down. I remember my shock the first time I saw a house in Ippo going for less than 100k....now it is the norm.

Don't like Ippo anyway, grotty place to live unless you are lucky enough to have oodles of pennies to afford in the one or two very nice areas of it..the majority of the housing is in the more grotty (my own idea of grotty by the way, they are probably very nice houses, I just don't like Ippo) places.

Couldn't get that link to work Pobby

And yes, I am probably being a snob but I have always said Ippo looks dirty compared to the green open spaces and the sea front of a few miles away.

See what you mean about the linky Sue. I just went on Rightmove and typed in the details. Around 3 pages of houses.

Our property pull out each week is mainly Ipswich properties....blooming annoying if you don't want to buy in Ippo though.

Their apartment (flats) market has been completely decimated...lots of new build flats over the last 5 years or so, original prices over the 250k mark but now going for around the 80k mark.

The older flats have been hit but not as hard.

Some pretty grotty areas in that list. :D

Can't think why they are keeping their prices. Perhaps the jobs market is still holding up better for them.

What about all those professional hard working couples? Don't they want the City lifestyle promised by the brochures anymore? Or were these flats all bought by older investors who thought their money was safe as houses?

What is interesting is why some places are dropping a lot faster than others.

IIRC, didn't a block of 'executive' apartments get build in the red-light/drug-dealing part of town?

Well it's not called 'executive relief' for nothing I guess. And who else buys all the Charlie?
