Hello
My partner has a couple of credit cards which he applied for online.
We are going to reclaim the PPI on his cards as he never gets insurance on anything and after reading a couple of things about the fact that they pre-tick the boxes on their online app forms, has anyone had any success in getting their PPI money back in this situation?????????
Thanks - any info helps!!!!

I don't know how old your husband's cards are but generally the pre-ticked application forms are for older credit cards, or there was a box you had to tick or sign if you did NOT want PPI. Because this is obviously unfair most companies don't use this type of selling anymore. But there are always exceptions.
Online applications give you the option (2 or 3 times if you keep saying no) to have the PPI and then on the agreement that is sent to you there will be a tick box if you did say yes.
If you didn't ask for PPI on the online application, most people end up with it after they call to activate their cards, and if it was sold on activation there won't be any thing you would have had to sign.
Whatever way it was sold though, there is no harm in trying to claim it back.0 -

Hi there,
Just received an email from EGG saying that as my OH applied online for his CC in October 2008 they will not be refunding any premiums paid to date. They have however cancelled the PPI with effect from 17th May. Any advice would be appreciated here. Am I wasting my time trying to get it back? They have said if I wish to further complain to do so in writing their Complaints Department. Help0 -

Hi JOSOM
Do not worry.
Was this their final response?
If not write back and tell them you want this reconsidered, whether or not the policy was purchased online or not, you have your reasons, then tell them if they do not resolve this, then you will complain to the FOS.
If this was the final response then just go to the FOS anyway, they are used to dealing with these type of complaints and will consider your reasons, good luck.

Thanks Di. They didn't say it was their final response, and did not suggest the FOS - only that their policy had changed since 2007 and because the application was made online 2008 they would not refund but if we wish to complain further to write to their complaints department. Will write again (OH also has insurance through his employers so we didn't need it and he is adamant that he did not tick the box) Cant find the paperwork for it though but still looking!!!! :A
Hi JOSOM
I would write back then to the complaints dept, enclose a copy of the first letter you sent, tell them you want this reconsidered if not let refer to the date of the letter you did send, as they have 8 weeks in full, where obviously some time have passed already,So keep on at them until they provided you with the final response.
You can always try requesting for a copy of the agreement by writing to them, and enclose £1 postal order or cheque payment to cover this, they should supply this by 12 days.
Keep on at them, if they still do not resolve this, I'm sure the FOS will look into this for you.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Yes a couple of these cards are from at least 2004, so Im trying to look for ANY type of agreement paperwork etc!!?? My OH doesnt get any insurance so I do believe that this has been added either by one of those preticked boxes or as you say, on activation? I hope the paperwork helps when they send it to us!!!Slowly but surely we are getting there??!!

Hi there
As in my above post, write to them to send the copies of the agreements to you, they normally charge a £1 for each one by either paying by cheque or postal order, they should supply these by 12 days.
Remember to use recorded delivery to ensure the letters have reached them, you can track them down on the Royal Mail website (tracking).
Good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
