I have just had this remote control delivered and it seems perfectly ok, so far I have set up the TV,DVD and VCR with no problem at all. Now all I have left to set up is my Digifusion 150 Freeview reciever/hard disk - the only trouble is there is no mention of freeview boxes at all!!! Does anyone know a code ???
    Or even there website?

As the manual is at http://www.remotec.com.hk/eng/tech-doc/BW6150%20manual.pdf I would guess that their website is www.remotec.com.hk ;)

(but I could be wrong, I often am)
Thanks to all who post constructively.

The codes in the book and on their site are very limited, is there any websites that have a list of codes?

I saw this product in the Maplin newsletter and was left wondering what's the point of a touch screen remote?

You still have to pick up the thing and touch it but with the added bonus of a mucky screen.

I remember in the early 80's when a lot of things went to touch buttons on keyboards, TV's and calculators etc, and for a while didn't we all feel space age, but they all ended up reverting back to the more clicky responsive buttons.
  • I'm just about to start looking for a Pronto remote (Ebay here I come).
Did you try downloading the remote codes from the net?

I am sick to death of having 5 remote controls in the lounge and never
being able to find the correct one.

They are all flawed in some way or the other.

I have a Philips Pronto remote which cost £200 a few years ago but prefer to use the originals, as I found it too fiddly to program, and keep swapping between devices. I might see what else is out there one day, but for now I prefer the original remotes.

I have a Philips Pronto and think it's great. Had mine for a couple of years now, £140 from eBay at the time.
It has learnt EVERYTHING I've thrown at it (AMP, TV, PROJECTOR, DVD, SKY, NTL, ELECTRIC SCREEN, LIGHTS & PC).
The best thing about it is the customising. Sure, it might take a bit of effort initially to design what you want, but once done, it's brilliant.
Of course there are standard layouts that you can use and then just record your signals from the original remote and you're done.
There's also plenty of sites out there to download other people's designs, icon and all sorts.

My one bit of advice is that you create a number of different screens for each device. Your first, and most frequently used, screen has your basic daily buttons that you use. Don't get too clever or make things too busy ... as you'll only end up changing things again a few weeks down the line when you find you don't use half the controls on your main screen, but end up having to navigate to other screens to do the thing you want.

Not sure what you could get one for now, but I'd certainly pay £140 for one now.

It is a bit large, but there's something comforting in that ... the feeling that you've got a device that can control everything in your house, should you want it.

Worst thing: Can have some issues connecting to a PC as it uses a COM port, well my older model does, but once you get it sorted it's not a problem. There's articles on the web to help you through it.

Best thing: Macro’s ... can do anything from turning off your house to switching everything on and switching sky to your favourite channel ... all with one button .. and unlike most other all in one remotes, you can have as many macro’s and buttons as you like.

Hang on ... I seem to have gone off topic here a bit and gone on a bit of a rant. Sorry, but hope it's proves useful to someone.
