Homes Under the Hammer How I Missed Thee...

You should watch 1 hour make over to see how to really mess a house up. Mind you it might be worth going on it for the free plasma etc providing you are prepared to redecorate it yourself afterwards.

My friend did one of those decorating programmes, good experience apart from the fact they only painted 2 walls in one room as they were the only ones which would appear on the television, cobbled something else together in her front room with gaffer tape, chopped up a prized book case to make it into a weird table of some sort (after they went, she turned it on it's side, chopped a few bits off, added other bits on and it made a pretty decent book case/storage desk!) and generally only did half measures.
The only room she really liked was her bedroom, they made her a gorgeous addition to her bed.....but still only painted one and a bit of the wall!We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Well thats nice isn't it.
I got a bit fatigued by this particular medium but I'm laid up having done myself a mischief. I've read all my library books, watched everything on the hard drive and exhausted the iplayer so I'm now scraping the barrel for ways to pass the time that one can do without moving ones head...
Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks. I've trapped a nerve in my neck, should hopefully be on the mend soon.
SingleSue if you like these programmes for their before and afters (as I do) then surely HUTH is a bit of a dud on that score? More often than not they go back a few weeks later to reveal how the new owner has papered over the gaping structural defect and is now letting it out...
Although did anyone see that one where the young Sort on a motorbike had bought that pumphouse and he was trying to get planning to add a glass atrium between the two buildings? Now that one was more McCloud than Martin Roberts...0 -
Must admit, it is those that really annoy me Phirefly...or the ones who have all these grand schemes and they go back 6 months later and nothing has changed....I get a sense of frustration because of it.
That said, my TV hours per week could be counted on one hand....I usually put it on (if I remember) when I am doing housework and then only in the front room, so just catch glimpses of it.We made it! Its for the financially illiterate watching the financially illiterate trying to sell to a bigger illiterate...All being helped by children s tv presenters. It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -

I am feeling out of the loop here especially now I read the above.
I am going to watch one on I Player tonight as I have watched every G Ramsey there is available now.
I've not seen any HUTH before.
Note to self to get more in touch with telly things.0 -
It's great. The male producer has some most peculiar mannerisms and facial expressions, he really does look and sound like a chump quite often.I am feeling out of the loop here especially now I read the above.

Also, listen how they (badly) match the sound tracks to the circumstances (more so in the older programmes).
I like to look up the properties in the Land Registry - 99% of the time you can get the address from the auction. If it's Savills you can never hear the address but you can go to the Savills website if you get the lot number and you know the auction date (they show that on screen), so you can look it up.
I like to see if it resold, how much at - and check rightmove to see if it's still for sale and at what price.
Today's auctions were from July 2007.0 -

Have you ever thought about becoming a private detective PN?
Off to watch it now ;-00 -

Then as a fashionista I should ask you what on earth you thought of Martin Roberts's curious taste in clothes. To me that's the real highlight of the programme. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

I never notice, but now you mention it ... does he wear the same outfit every day?vivatifosi wrote: »Then as a fashionista I should ask you what on earth you thought of Martin Roberts's curious taste in clothes. To me that's the real highlight of the programme.
Maybe that could be a new thread: What Martin wore today. Take notes and compare, see if he does ever change.0
