Bairstow Eves EA

Anyone used this EA in the coventry area? if so what sort of service did they provide.

And any EA recommendations in the Coventry area, as I'll be sacking Bairstows next tuesday

    I've been Money Tipped!
So not going well anymore then?

I'm registered with majority of them.

The only ones which sent details on telephone enquiry to all of them (yes I rang EVERYONE in New Union Street and beyond) were

    Hawkins
    Halifax
    Connells
    Your Move
    Alternative
    Brian Holt
    Coopers
    Wilson Quinn
    The Bear
    Suttons

Of these, the only ones I have had posted details from since with new properties are

    Brian Holt
    Halifax
    Your Move (ring too)
    Hawkins (Just emails)

Personally, I would go with Your Move if I were selling in Cov...they are always ringing us as buyers to promote properties which are new and re-mention others we've previously said no to. A friend has just sold with them and within a week had 5 viewings...the documents were only signed by the vendors 5 days into this week, no for sale board, no rightmove, Your Move had generated that much interest by ringing round people on their books.

My firend tried hard to get their fee below 1.5% but they wouldn't budge. Their house was £160000...you may be able to get a lower fee as your house is less in value and they do a staged fee system.

BTW: Don't go with Connells...I had to ring them 3 times to book 1 viewing. 1st time I was told I'd be rung back straight away and never was, 2nd time i rang to chase was told they'd ring me back as they were with a customer, 3rd time I made the appointment "oh we had the wrong number down for you"...they'd repeated my number back to me the first time I left it with them. Another viewing with them, we were going to be a little bit late for, so rang Connells to ask vendor to wait an extra 15 mins for us to arrive...vendor was getting in car as we pulled up, connells hadn't passed the message onto them.

    Hi,

I have been a buyer and seller in the Coventry area and looking at it from both perspectives I would probably say no to all of the Estate Agents in Coventry. Unfortunately, that's not really possible so my recommendation would be with the bear based on how quickly they sold my mother in laws house when it had been on the market for months. We have had bad experiences with a few of the estate agents but I would say definately don't go with Connells (we put 2 offers in on houses with connells and both times retracted our offer due to their treatment of us so they may get viewings for you but they could also lose you a buyer). Your Move were ok when we bought our house but they didn't really seem to know what was going on and we ended up dealing with the vendor directly so your move didn't really earn their money but obviously they got paid it anyway!

    Hope this helps.

  • Whereabouts in Coventry are you? Just thinking if it's anywhere near Coundon I'd recommend Yeoman & Owen - they're fairly small but do a roaring trade locally, and being fairly small and independent the people that work there are on the ball.
I was going to market my property with them but had a private cash offer the day they were due to come round and take photos so it didn't happen.

I personally think Oakley Box are a bit rubbish. Their sales details they send out are minimal (or they were at the time I asked for any) and they never seemed to answer the phone when I rang.

Suttons are crap too! I'm not enthralled with any of them really for buying or selling, but I have used Whitegates in the past and they were at least on the ball most of the time and were pleasant! Good luck
  • I bought a house with BE (London branch). Wasn't particularly impressed, mainly due to the high staff turnover. Every time I rang I had to speak to someone new (and explain the whole thing over and over). Also there was no one there at lunch time to take calls.

Would agreed with all of the above about Oakley Box and Suttons.

Can't compliment Whitegates at all though, having rented with them. Nightmare!

Another phantom viewing yesterday that makes 4 in total, seeing the EA on tuesday funny that within 5 mins of asking for an appointment to see them they rang this viewing through. Im getting real p***ed off.

Still got 6 weeks of the sole agency period to run but in view of the performance I need another agent as all these have done is next to nothing and bull!!!!.
