Possible to mix/match BG tariffs for Gas and Elec?
Currently on BG Click 6, and have just done some quick calcs showing that if I changed to websaver 2 I would be about £50/year better off on gas, but £50/year worse off for electricity so no overall net save. And add on the £30 cancellation fee for moving either fuel to a new tariff
Just wondering whether its possible to leave my Elec on Click 6, but move the gas to websaver2? Obviously the £30 cancellation fee may still mean I stay as is, but the only other negative I can see if that I would no longer (as on different tariffs??) receive the dual fuel discount of up to £3.75/quarter

Do British Gas still charge 2 separate DDs for punters on dual fuel? They always did when I was with them and I did find it rather silly.
PS On topic: As you know about the £30 exit fee and don't seem unduly fazed by it, I can't see why you shouldn't do the switch, TBH. Being the BG cynic I am, what would rankle with me is the fact you actually had to do this 'jumping through hoops' to get the 'best' deal and I wonder how many punters who aren't members here would even know that they were probably being 'done' by being on what they think is 'BGs online tariff, Click 6'...Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
On some of their old internet tariffs BG would not let you have gas only, but obviously you could get electricity only.
However you can apply for gas only on Websaver 2, so I can't see they should have any objection to your plan; although it is entirely posible that their 'super new' computer system couldn't cope. I would lay even money that both gas & electricity would change to Websaver20 -
You CAN just change the gas to websaver 2, you will need to fill in the online application on British Gas' website and you can actually select gas only there, fairly simple. dont see how that can go wrong if you choose the correct option.0

Energy Expert or not, if you 'can't see how it can go wrong', you don't know BG computer systems!!
P.S.
What is your area of expertise in energy?0 -

LOL - I'll second that. When I switched my dual fuel from click 5 to click 6 I got two letters in separate envelopes (one for gas, one for electricity) confirming my switch to their STANDARD tariff. Also, despite being on the click tariffs for years, I still get a paper bill, because I can't log onto the BG website - a known problem at their end which their techies are trying to resolve..... supposedly....I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -

I have 4 accounts at my current account. 2 in the main house and 2 in a cottage.
They have managed to dispaly the electricity account from the cottage, so I can view 3 accounts on line. However for 2 years they haven't managed to let me view the gas account.
They have now managed to let me view it.:T They have spelt the address of the town that I live in in CAPITALS. Their £500 million computer system recognises this as a different address. So I have to look for another address to view that account!!!0 -
Are BG the cheapest for electric? Could you use BG for gas only but use someone else for electric?Nothing to see here :beer:0
