Since I upgraded to Firefox 3.0.10 it won't open.

I get an error message but that is continuous and the only option is to quit Firefox.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Does anyone have any ideas to solve it?

thanks

Which operating system, and what does the error message say?

I'm using Firefox 3.0.10 on Linux. No problems.

    Using Vista

It just says that Firefox has encountered a problem and tries to send a report to Firefox. I have 2 buttons - one to quit FF and the other to restart it - that one triggers the error message again.
  • Try re-installing. It sounds like a corrupt installation

try this > start button > all programmes > mozilla firefox > firefox safe mode - once there try disabling any add-ons and resetting all defaults , make a back up of any bookmarks you need - go to bookmarks>organize bookmarks and >back up

Thanks I've tried reinstalling and it still has the same problem.

I've tried to get it to start in safe mode with everything disabled - but it still won't open and I get the same error message

Should I uninstall it and start again from scratch with the installation?

Good news though is I've discovered Opera (the browser not the music :p) and it's better than IE but I like FF.

    Thanks for all the help.

Have you tried installing it by downloading a fresh copy from Mozilla instead of the same installation file.

Try removing firefox via Add/remove in Control Panel and download and install from a fresh copy.

I must say I've had more problems with Firefox in the last couple of months than in the last 3 years.
I did a complete reinstall, deleted everything I could find associated with Firefox.
It seems ok for now, but I'm beginning to think it's starting to get bloated.
My Linux version seems to be more stable.
    Move along, nothing to see.

try removing the profile in c/documents and settings/username(will be yours obviously)/application data/mozilla/firefox
There is a profiles folder and a file also called profiles .I would not delete them but would move them to another location ,mozilla will make new ones, and then see if it worked. if it does you can import your settings from the old files or try copying some of them back to see what works.

This problem seems to be identical to mine. I have tried uninstalling FF and then clean installing it but it still won't work. I can't find a profiles folder - is this the problem?
    I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.
