can someone with divorce improve his credit

rating. the person divorced but did not finish paying mortgage with ex as she would not pay either. they had to sell. i am concerned that this will now affect the credit rating. will it help to explain situation by putting note in experian and equifax and what should we say exactly. thanks in advance.

Did you/he actually miss any mortgage payments? If you simply sold up and cleared the mortgage, then this wont matter.0

First place to start is by getting a credit report to ascertain the current situation. If there are late payments that resulted during the break-up then it can help to explain them using a notice of correction. If all financial ties have now been severed, you need to make sure this is reflected on the credit report. If not, ask for a disassociation (i.e. for the link to be broken).
